Hello deviants! It has been a very long time since I posted anything- I think this is a good time as any!
I'll like to a bit of reviewing some manga I gotten:
Wolverine: Prodigal Son, volume 1
My first bit of reviewing is- believe it or not, a Marvel Manga. I can't tell you how much I hate this manga (even though I bought it >.< ). But it has some "redeeming qualities", even though for being a manga rip-off. This is a completely different storyline than what some fans know and love, on the back, as quote, says:
"This is not the Wolverine you know. Logan is a teenage rebel with a real good reason for having a real bad attitude. Ever since being left in a nearby forest- with no memory of who he was or how he got there- Logan (or Wolverine, as his classmates sometimes call him) has been stuck in a martial arts school in the icy winds of Canada. No wonder he's bored, restless, yearning. There's a whole world out there, and Logan can almost taste it. But he's chained to a past he can't remember and can't escape. Not it just may destroy his future." Isn't some of the parts of this is the basis of his life? I may not be a total Marvel fan, but I seen enough movies and series involving Wolverine- I know enough about him (I think).
Marvel didn't use any famous manga artist, so the artwork is less than impressive. Some times you don't even know what's going on in a scene because of all the moving about. This used the American still of reading, left to right.
Most of the stuff previously said in the quote cover most of what goes on in the manga. There is some characters you haven't seen before; like, what I can guess is Logan's girlfriend, Tamara Elliott. She is the daughter of the Dojo's teacher. She is hotheaded, sorta like Logan, and she looks out for him as they go through a lot of shit that happens. But due to Logan's healing abilities, he doesn't need to be looked after to much. Except for that scene when he enters New York City with his teacher for the first time.
Not much else to say, but I like the design of telepathic chick, Lady Silence.
I'm glad that's over!
Next one! And this one is much better than the other one!
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, the manga!
I love this manga! Picking it up is so worth the money. No chapters, only one volume, and less singing!
This came out 12 years after the movie appeared, but it kept it's style in print with a real Japanese theme. The manga stayed true to the movie, 'nough said. I highly recommend this to those who like The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Late news time!
So many celebrity deaths, it's unreal! Yeah- that's pretty much it. I wasn't planning to say more.
HGSS news has been spreading like a freaking storm! I'm very impressed by how they're changing and keeping some features in the revamp version of an old favorite of mine.
Reason because the lack of journals: I'm running out of things to talk about. >.<
